Dugi vs Zygor

Which Guide is Better – Dugi or Zygor?

Hi I’ve created this site to provide a review on Dugi and Zygor guides. After being a loyal Zygor customer for a long time, I have recently switched over to Dugi Guides. Why? Because in my opinion Zygor is letting their standards drop with their guides and Dugi is now leading the way with the best in-game world of warcraft guides. Don’t get me wrong, Zygor still has a great guide, but its definitely clear that Zygor is following in Dugi’s footsteps in an attempt to keep up.

What prompted me to write this review was the release of Zygors Profession and Achievement guide. It was a big disappointment. It was incomplete, full of bugs, completely overpriced and released way too late (Dugi released his a year earlier). In a way it was a good thing, because it pushed me to change over to Dugi Guides.

There are other in-game guides out there such as Xcelerated, but it doesn’t even come close to what Dugi and Zygor offer.  Although I’m obviously a fan of Dugi Guides, I have given a fair side by side comparison of each guide, based on facts and what is offered by each. I’ve included many screenshots to give you an idea of how each guide looks and works within the game. I will do my best to keep this as up to date as possible, with price changes, guide updates etc as I know how annoying it is reading outdated reviews.

Overview

These guides are completely automated and work in-game, so you can see step-by-step instructions as you play. The guides automatically move to a new step as you complete the quests. You are told where to go i.e. the questgivers for accepting and turning in quests along with where and how to complete the quests. Zygor has more steps and details, which would be more suited to beginners. Dugi condenses the info into fewer steps, but still has all the necessary questing info.

Both Dugi and Zygor have guides for Horde and Alliance for levels 1-90 and include built in installers and updaters. So installing the guide is really easy and updating is just a click of a button.

Guide Features

Originally Zygor was always leading the way with the best addon and features and gained the reputation as the best WoW guide. But Dugi has really stepped up and has been outdoing Zygor by adding heaps of new features. Dugi Guides currently has more features than Zygor, although Zygor has recently been improving and adding more.

Heres the features included in the guides…

  • Auto Quest Items (no searching through bags)
  • Flight Path and Hearth Included
  • Optimized Leveling Route (no junk quests, or backtracking)
  • Multiple Quest Completion (complete quests in the same area simultaneously)
  • Auto Skip Quests (keeps up with your character’s level automatically)
  • Waypoint Arrow (always know where to go)
  • 3D Model Viewer (preview of NPCs and objects)
  • Customizable User Interface
  • Compatible with Every Race and Class
  • Different Level Settings (easy-medium-hard)
  • Map Preview Feature
  • Auto Target NPCs
  • Translate into Different Languages
  • Minimap Area Highlight (highlights questing area)
  • Search & Sticky Feature

I’ve created a separate section looking at each of the features in detail, such as how they work, how they look and which guide has what – Click here for Guide Features Compared

User Interface

Both guides have a different look. Many players choose the Zygor guide because of the way it looks, with it’s modern, clean appearance. Zygor has improved it, so its easier to navigate. Dugi Guides interface blends into the game more, as it looks more like something you would find within World of Warcraft. It has icons down the right hand side for selecting your guides and is really easy to navigate.

Both guides can be customized, so you can achieve your preferred look. They both offer mini modes for a minimal look and also more detailed modes which gives more quest info. Here’s a few screenshots of each guide…

Both Dugi and Zygor Guides can be adjusted in size, so you can have more questing info on the screen if you want. You can scroll up down to see what quests are coming up etc. Here’s screenshots of the guides in a larger size, showing multiple quests.

Dugi Guides - Main InterfaceZygor Guides Interface - Larger Size Updates / New Content

Dugi and Zygor both had their guides updated before Mist of Pandaria was released and both guides are kept updated with all the patches and changes to the game. Dugi is way faster with updates and has a lot more. Zygor seems to hold out and then do a big update. With new content such as guides etc, Dugi is definitely leading the way with Zygor usually many months behind. Zygor now offers the same number of guides as Dugi but it took them a long time to catch up.

Prices

After Mist of Pandaria was released Dugi Guides and Zygor Guides were completely different when it came to their pricing.

To get the complete set of Zygor guides, it will cost you $310 and they will charge you up to $110 for the expansion updates.

Whereas Dugi has now changed to a subscription rate of only $6.99 per month, which gives you everything including all expansion updates. This is such a good deal, I bought some of Dugi’s guides before he offered this rate but have now switched over to it. If you are feeling ripped off by Zygor, invest $7 to give Dugi a try and I’m sure you will be very quickly converted. Plus you have the bonus of ending your subscription at any time, so if you stop playing wow you havn’t forked out hundreds of dollars on something you aren’t using.

Another thing that Dugi offers is a Loyalty program, that rewards old customers with free expansion upgrades. This only applies to old customers that bought his guides before he changed to the subscription pricing.

In my opinion, Zygor is far too expensive, there guides are simply not worth the money. It’s a shame as they used to be much more reasonably priced.

Another thing that disappointed me was how Zygor artificially separated their Pet & Mount, Titles Reputations & Macros from the Achievement & Profession guide to inflate their prices. This angered a lot of their existing customers like myself.  Those guides should have been included with the Achievement guide because things like Pets, Mounts, Titles and Reputation involve completing a lot of achievements.

Dugi Guide Bundles:
(with the new subscription pricing, you get all these guides)

  • Leveling (includes Talent Guide)
  • Loremaster & Dungeon (includes Macros)
  • Achievement & Profession (includes Pet & Mount, Reputations & Titles)
  • Dailies & Events

Zygor Guide Bundles:
(there is a set price for each guide bundle)

  • Leveling & Loremaster (includes Talent Guide)
  • Pet & Mount
  • Profession & Achievement
  • Dailies & Events
  • Titles Reputations & Macros

I have a separate page with a Price Comparison Table showing all the prices for single faction and double factions for each guide.

Technical Support

Both guides offer free technical support. I emailed both guides wanting support for installing the guide (purely for the sake of this review site) and received helpful responses from both Dugi and Zygor. Dugi’s response was within 7 hours and Zygors was within 28 hours. So they both get a tick for technical support.

Guarantee

Dugi offers a 60 days full refund guarantee which I think is a big plus as he stands by the quality of his products.

Zygor Guides unfortunately doesn’t offer any guarantee at all for their guides so it can be a risk to purchase their expensive guide and lose your money if you don’t like their guides.

Check out my Guide Features Compared for more in-depth comparisons of what each guide offers. Hope this site has been helpful.
